This is Drew's Website. Welcome!
My name is Drew Jolley Harding. I am a curious learner, eager to empower and equip others for future living to come.
You can read my professional goals as a librarian below. You can review my portfolio or résumé by following the links in the navigation bar above.
Professional goals
My enthusiasm for librarianship and archival work is far reaching. My skills and capacity for learning new things enable me to work in most any position. However, my interests consistently bring me here:
Non-traditional materials & collections
- I'm deeply fond of looking after things. I like to mend clothing and fix things around the house. I feel there's a lot of room for libraries and archives to help folks more confidently and carefully interact with and appreciate the things around them. Like collections of books and other media, collections of everyday objects (in archives, libraries, or otherwise) can be highly instructive. I hope to connect and work with others interested in building metadata standards for libraries of things. With these collections becoming more common there is no reason for organizations to start from scratch with metadata. These kinds of collections further connect the processes of organization and knowledge sharing to lived life.
Teaching in equitable, considerate ways
- My approach to teaching is strongly informed by my struggles and successes as a student. My teaching philosophy is highly processual and assessment- and collaboration-focused. In the institions where I work, I want to build structures that invite staff and patrons to claim agency and trust their curiosity in the learning process.
